I'm in a phase 5 art slump.

I invented that term just now. It means I'm hardly even sketching and when I do sketch I get too frustrated to finish the simplest of things. Usually I'll post bad/unfinished sketches in my sketch blog just to update the thing, but now I'm not even posting these in there because THAT IS HOW BAD they are.

I'm getting little whiffs of inspiration only to have them float away. This happened to me a couple of years ago and it lasted a year. I don't want this to last a year. I have commissions and work and comics to do. Someone tell me how to jumpstart my art out of slumpsville ;3;

One idea I'm having is perhaps um... give me a fandom you think would look good in my style? Maybe it will jumpstart. Fanart's easier to draw than trying to create designs from scratch so I dunno.

Note to those that actually suggest stuff: I don't watch much TV or anime that's recent. I didn't even have a TV for a year so yeah. No Doctor Whosit or BSG or um I don't know. Anything sci-fi. that will just drive me nuts. But other than that, suggest your pants off. More than one suggestion is fine. ;3; HALP MEEEEE!

Umm..I believe a friend from college led me here. She had an account and so I joined timidly, didn't use it for about year because I was going through a heavy dry spell at the time...and then came back when I started doing all my emo art again. Yeaaah D:

Um, by the time I started using Melii, it was a nickname version of the username I had been using everywhere prior (melfinaj) and much less embarrassing. I liked Melii because it was short and simple and for some reason the two i's at the end were always very pleasing to me.

A god(dess) I created. It's a tegaki of "her" and (s)he is nameless. But I really like "her" design and needed a change.

Clubs, no. They have too many rules that I find ridiculous so I'm kind of done with them for now. Contests on the other hand, are something I'm trying to get more into, if I like the prizes.

Um, My Ouran fanart of course (bah and I now hate it. Must redo!). Or Fat Bottomed Girl. It still gets faves every now and again, and comments. And has the most views.

I don't know. I check it here and there. On a day I use the journal or submit art it will probably be more than an hour. On a day I don't, less than.

What is the most annoying thing people ask you?
I don't really get annoying questions here. Lucky me!

What is the most annoying comment you get?
I guess it annoys me when someone comes and tells me how great my gallery is, only to leave and never come back. If you're grateful for a fav/watch, you can just say "thanks for the fav/watch" and not tell me how great my gallery is, only not great enough for you to fav/watch. I don't mind people not liking my shit, but lying about liking it is really annoying.

What inspires you?
Music. Video games sometimes (WoW is really inspiring in terms of scenery. I don't really pay attention to the lore so haha). Umm fashion is really inspiring, and other artists are really inspiring in terms of painting styles. I still haven't found one I like yet so I always get inspired when I see something different.

Do you use any traditional media?
Occasionally. Water colorssssss. And pencil sketches. I might try using oil pastels again one day. Just not now

Do you associate people online with their icons?
Sometimes. I get lost when someone has a new icon. Especially when two people have similar ones. ffff.

Have you ever suggested a Daily Deviation?
I've MEANT to. But honestly haven't. Mainly because I don't know what to say. I'd rather suggest galleries than any specific piece of work.

Everyone has considered leaving DA once or twice. Have you? Why?
Of course. Um. Well the sexism thing really bothers me. And the unfair treatment towards people without subs. I mean, I can understand a lot of the more unnecessary features being sub only, but something like critique, and getting attention for something needing critique should really not be a sub only feature. It really shows how dA cares more about money than about the art community and furthering artists. But I can bitch and moan and never leave because I've made a nest and friends here like everyone else. Maybe they will push me far enough to leave one day, and no one will care and it will make no difference. fffff! Which is why I don't leave.

Note to those that commissioned me: I will be packing up my computer in about a week's time. I'm not yet done with the warrior painting, but hope to be within the week. I got a lot of great critiques and help, so thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. I really want to learn this stuff and I do need a lot of things pointed out to me often! I might start uploading some more WIPs to dA because when I ask for critiques elsewhere, I didn't really get much, but we'll see.

Anyway, winding down from it still, I've had to draw some other stuff to take a break from paying attention and trying to make things look "right". I've recently come to realize that when I am winding down from something big I tend to draw my characters and my friends characters. Usually BL and usually porn (haha). Mainly because instead of paying attention to having colors and anatomy spot on I just want to make it look sexy and have fun with it. 8D It's just cathartic and relaxing to me.

Hey guys. I realize everyone is strapped for cash right now, and they're either doing commissions or can't afford commissions, but if you're neither of those, please read on.
I'm getting booted from my place in a month and I have no money at all to move with. So I need to do about 30-40 10$ commissions so that I can actually move.

You've seen my gallery so you know what I can do.
10$ will get you the following: an icon commission, a chibi/paperchild commission (1-2 characters), or a sketch commission of one character. I have examples at my website: HERE for all of those things. (The icon in the example was actually 15$. The only difference is the coloring would be simpler for 10$).

Payments are paypal only, up front. I normally let the buyer decide to pay half or full up front, but since I'm pressed for time and need the money sooner, I need to accept it up front.
